NZ Chat AI Data Policy

NZ Chat integrates a third-party AI service to provide optional AI-powered features within the app. These features require your explicit consent before any of your data is sent to the AI service. This policy describes these practices in full, in compliance with Apple App Store Guidelines 5.1.1(i) and 5.1.2(i).

The core messaging and communication features of NZ Chat operate independently of any AI service and are not affected by your AI consent preferences.

NZ Chat uses the API provided by OpenAI, L.L.C. to power AI features within the app.

OpenAI provides the same or equivalent level of data protection as required under applicable privacy laws and as described in this policy.

NZ Chat uses the OpenAI API to provide AI-assisted features within the app, including but not limited to generating responses, summarizing content, or processing user requests through a conversational AI interface. These features are clearly marked within the app as AI-powered.

These AI features are entirely optional. The core messaging and chat functionality of NZ Chat operates independently and does not require or use any AI service.

When you choose to use an AI-powered feature, only the text content of your message or input is sent to OpenAI's servers to generate a response.

• ✗Your name, phone number, or email address
• ✗Your contact list or address book
• ✗Images, audio, or video files
• ✗Your device information or IP address
• ✗Your location data
• ✗Any other personal information beyond your text input

Before any message text is sent to OpenAI, the app will clearly notify you and ask for your explicit consent. You will be informed:

• That the feature uses OpenAI's AI service

• That your message text will be sent to OpenAI to generate a response

You may accept or decline at any time. If you decline, no data will be sent to OpenAI and all other app features will continue to work normally.

Your consent preference is saved within the app. You may change it at any time from app settings.

The text you submit to the AI feature is processed by OpenAI solely to generate a response to your request. OpenAI's handling of this data is governed by their own Privacy Policy. We encourage you to review OpenAI's privacy practices before using AI features.

NZ Chat does not store the text content you send to OpenAI beyond what is necessary to deliver the AI response within the app session.

You may disable AI-powered features at any time from within the app settings. Once disabled, no further data will be sent to OpenAI. Disabling AI features does not affect your ability to use NZ Chat's standard messaging and communication features.

AI-powered features in NZ Chat are not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13, or the applicable age of digital consent in your country. If you believe a child has used an AI feature and submitted personal data, please contact us immediately.

We may update this AI Data Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our AI features or applicable laws. We will notify users of any material changes by posting the updated policy on this page and updating the “Last Modified” date above.
